DNHY 1215 - Clinical Dental Hygiene I Credit Hours: 4.00 Prerequisites: Admission into the Dental Hygiene Program; DNHY 1112 , DNHY 1116 , DNHY 1117 , DNHY 1118 , DNHY 1119 , DNHY 1120 and DNHY 1121 all with grade of C or better
Corequisites: DNHY 1210 , DNHY 1212 , and DNHY 1214
This course enables students to apply the knowledge and skills learned to the dental hygiene process of care: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Students will provide preventative, therapeutic, and educational services to clinical patients in a supervised dental setting.

- Demonstrate use of proper PPE necessary for dental hygiene treatment procedures.

- Identify the three basic instrument stroke directions.

- Identify the technique of rubber cup prophylaxis.
Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the range of working positions for the dental hygienist.
