Program Description:

The Certificate of Transfer Studies is intended for students who plan to transfer and complete a bachelor’s degree. The requirements of this certificate will satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). Students who transfer to participating institutions with a transcript certified “MTA satisfied” will meet the general education requirements as determined by the transfer institution. A minimum of 30 credits and a minimum grade of “C” or 2.0 in each course are required.  To obtain the “MTA satisfied” transcript at least 1 course (1000-level or higher) must be completed at Macomb Community College.

To learn about a transfer institution’s participation, students should contact an Academic Advisor or Counselor at Macomb Community College and/or an admissions representative from the institution(s) where they are considering transferring. For further information, students are encouraged to visit the MACRAO website: www.macrao.org

Completion of this certificate satisfies MTA. To request an MTA-satisfied transcript, submit the MTA Transcript Request Form to Macomb’s Office of Records & Registration.

Most transfer institutions accept at least 60 credits from a community college. Students are encouraged to take courses at Macomb Community College in addition to the requirements of this certificate to maximize their transfer credits and/or complete an associate degree.

IMPORTANT
Selected majors that include extensive math and science courses require timely course selection. It is important to balance your course selection to include both MTA courses and courses required for your major. Be sure to work closely with a Macomb Academic Advisor or Counselor to ensure proper course selection.

Requirements & Specific Information:

  • This certificate requires a minimum of 30 credit hours.
  • Courses below 1000-level will not count toward the Certificate of Transfer Studies.
  • All courses used towards completion of the program require a minimum grade of “C” or 2.0.
  • If you have AP credits, contact Macomb’s Office of Records & Registration to determine if these credits may apply.

Transfer Pathways:

Students intending to transfer and complete a bachelor’s degree need to make early decisions concerning an academic major and a transfer destination. Statistics show that students who make these decisions early are more likely to persist to graduation than their undecided counterparts. Students planning to transfer credits earned at Macomb are strongly urged to see a counselor or academic advisor as early as possible in their college careers.
