Provides the student with knowledge of basic skills; philosophy of team play, style of play, and on‑court experience practicing and using skills in game situations.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply the rules of basketball in a court situation.

Objectives:

  1. Identify rules of basketball.
  2. Describe the rules of basketball.
  3. Identify basketball vocabulary.
  4. Discuss strategies used in basketball.
  5. Identify court positions.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to perform basic basketball skills.

Objectives:

  1. Pass the ball.
  2. Dribble the ball.
  3. Shoot the ball.
  4. Rebound.
  5. Apply basketball skills in group situations.
  6. Apply strategies and court positions for traversing the court.
