Fine Arts - Additional Program Information
Program Description:
The Fine Arts Program offers courses, an Associate of Fine Arts, and transfer to four-year institutions to obtain a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. This education in art at a preprofessional stage consists primarily of studio classes complemented by general art history courses. Macomb views this program as a pathway to a four-year institution offering a professional degree, necessitating about two-thirds of its credits to be in art and/or design. The program will deliver a solid foundational fine art education that includes a diverse array of artistic fields and resources that provide genuine, contemporary, and hands-on material learning. This program will create graduates who possess technical skills, aesthetic discernment, and a deep dedication to artistic excellence.
Program Outcomes:
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
1. Understand the foundations of fine art concepts and theory.
2. Utilize a variety of two-dimensional tools and mediums.
3. Utilize a variety of three-dimensional tools and mediums.
4. Understand the course of art history, its movements, trends, tools and mediums, innovations, and major contributors.
5. Write and speak critically about their work and the work of others.
