Credit Hours Required: 63.5
Notes:
- Degree & Certificate Requirements
- Exploratory Course***: HHSC 1020
- Critical Course*: BIOL 2710 and HHSC 1020
- Variable Credit Hours - the number of credit hours will vary depending on the course selected.
- If students take one course from each of Groups I.A, II, III, and IV and still have taken less than the minimum of 15 credit hours of General Education courses required for the AAS & ABA degrees, they may elect additional hours from Group I.B, II, III, or IV to satisfy minimum degree requirements.
- It is strongly encouraged that you work with a counselor, advisor or faculty/department coordinator to plan your schedule or if you plan to transfer.
1 It is recommended that the course be taken prior to admission to the physical therapist assistant program; however, it must be completed prior to completion of the program as it is a degree requirement.
- Students must apply through the selective admission process and be accepted into the physical therapist assistant program before taking any PTAS course.
- Forty (40) hours of volunteer service in a Physical Therapy Department is required prior to any PTAS course.
*A critical course is a course that is highly correlated with success in a particular program and field. Critical courses are identified by the academic department as courses that the student should have a high level of understanding and comprehension in order to progress successfully in the program.
**A recommended course is a suggestion or an advised option that correlates to the respective program. Recommended courses complement the skill set(s) required to be successful and are considered to be beneficial for enhancing students’ education in the program. Recommended courses are not mandatory. In some cases there may not be recommended courses.
***An exploratory course is one that provides a student a broad overview of a particular field/area of study and associated occupations. Exploratory courses help students better understand if that particular program is a good fit for the student to pursue given their interests and career goals.
