Program Notes:


  • Students must complete the core requirements (POLS 1500, POLS 1700, SOCY 1210 & SOCY 2500) AND select two of the five elective courses (PSYC 1010, PSYC 2400, SOCY 1100, MGMT 1010 or MGMT 1180). PSYC 1010 in Semester 1 is a prerequisite to taking PSYC 2400 in Semester 2.
  • If interested in continuing to the Associate of Arts in Pre-Social Work  degree, you must meet with a counselor/advisor.

Program Description:

The Community Leadership Certificate Program will provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop necessary skills for successful employment with non-profit, public sector, and private sector organizations, with an emphasis on the need for adaptation/evolution in a changing social and economic environment. The students will develop organizational skills, leadership skills, cultural, ethical, and community competency, diversity training and practice, coalition/team building strategies, advanced communication skills, and creative problem solving.   The program is designed to highlight the participation of community partners through internships, site visits, and classroom visits/presentations. Students will be required to complete service/internship hours.
