The Associate of Arts degree in Pre‑Social Work program is designed to provide students with the basic competencies, knowledge, and skills needed to transfer to a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree program. Completion of a BSW provides the minimum credential required to pursue licensure and entry level employment. The Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) has become the standard for meaningful and gainful employment as a professional social worker.

  You are strongly encouraged to work with a counselor, academic advisor, or faculty/department coordinator
Degree & Certificate Requirements  
It is required that the composition/communication course in Group I be started within the first fifteen (15) credit hours of the degree
            Certificate Option - Students are eligible to apply for the Community Leadership, Certificate , upon completion of the Pre-Social Work Degree

Program Description:

Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

1. Utilize the appropriate communication skills when interacting with diverse populations.

2. Apply theoretical frameworks supported by empirical evidence to assess individual development and behavior among micro, mezzo, and macro populations.    

3. Demonstrate ethical appropriate behavior within the social work profession.  

4. Summarize community resources that promote positive social change and individual well-being.
