BSNS-8034 Workplace Skills


Workplace Skill is an interactive course designed to equip students with essential professional skills to thrive in any workplace environment. Learners will explore the foundations of work ethics, teamwork, attitude and discipline, effective communication, problem-solving and customer service. Through engaging simulations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will develop practical skills that enhance their ability to navigate and succeed in diverse workplace settings.

Learning Outcomes
  • Gain knowledge, skills and dispositions for the key areas: work ethic, teamwork, attitude, discipline, communication, problem-solving, customer service, integrity, collaboration, resilience, leadership, and creativity for application in the work environment.

  • Develop essential professional traits, including time management, appropriate attire, collaboration/teamwork, and accountability.
  • Master effective communication and respectful behavior in diverse workplace settings including work ethic and integrity.
  • Learn to deliver excellent customer service through active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution.
  • Strengthen teamwork skills by giving feedback, solving problems, and making decisions collaboratively.

Activities/Resources
Lecture, interactive discussion of topics, video, virtual simulations, hands-on practical application.

Evaluation
Students will confidentially evaluate this course by completing the electronic Student Evaluation of Class form distributed via email after the last class session.

Successful Completion

The instructor will evaluate the student’s skills learned using attendance, participation, feedback, testing where appropriate, and projects completed.

87.5 % attendance is required; 100% attendance is recommended, as no special arrangements will be made for missing class.

% = 7 hours.

Upon successful completion, this course will appear on the student’s Macomb Community College non-credit transcript.
