ARTS-8039 Drawing What You See Prerequisites None This class is based on elements from the books “Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain” and “The Artist Way.” Examine areas of creative thinking and exercise hand-and-eye coordination while creating art. Learning Outcomes
- The student will draw what he/she sees.
- The student will develop a portfolio of his/her work.
Topics
- Drawing techniques (creative and mechanical).
- Studying artists from the past and present and analyze their thoughts and techniques.
Activities/Resources
- Drawing from photographs (human, animal, automobile, landscape).
- Identifying shapes.
- Contour drawing.
- Sketching.
- Upside-down drawing.
- Homework will be assigned.
- Reading materials will be distributed.
Evaluation Students will confidentially evaluate this course by completing the Student Evaluation of Class form emailed to student after the last class session.
Successful Completion The instructor will evaluate the student’s skills learned using participation, attendance, feedback, testing where appropriate, and projects completed. 75% attendance is required; 100% attendance is recommended as no special arrangements will be made for missing class. 75% attendance = 13.5 hours. Upon successful completion, this class will appear on the student’s Macomb Community College non-credit transcript.
