HLTH-8018C Billing Applications

Prerequisites CSFT-8063B with minimum grade CR and HLTH-8010A minimum grade CR or equivalent
Students will be introduced to the basic principles of hospital billing. Gain knowledge in the patient accounts and data flow, the hospital billing process, familiarity with the UB04 claim form, health care payers, reimbursement, revenue cycle and accounts receivable management. Learn how to read and understand the Explanation of Benefits, follow up with payers and techniques in insurance collection. This is an online class. Students will meet the instructor on campus on day one. Access Canvas at My Macomb.Text required.

Evaluation
Students will confidentially evaluate this course by completing the Student Evaluation of Class form distributed at the last class session.

Successful Completion
The instructor will evaluate the student’s skills learned based on attendance, participation, feedback, testing where appropriate, and projects completed. Students must complete 36 contact hours with a minimum of 75% overall score to successfully complete the course. Once successfully completed, this course will appear on the student’s Macomb Community College non-credit transcript.
