Topics Topics will include but are not limited to:
- Vocabulary.
- Pronunciation and spelling of medical words.
- Prefixes and suffixes.
- Disease processes.
- Surgical procedures.
- Structure of the human body.
- Cells and tissues.
- The skin and membranes.
- The immune system.
- Anatomy.
- The senses.
- Psychiatry.
- The endocrine system.
- The circulatory system.
- The respiratory system.
- The digestive system.
- The urinary system.
- The reproductive system.
Activities/Resources
- Writing steno terms.
- Entering all terms into steno dictionary.
Evaluation Students will confidentially evaluate this course using the Student Evaluation of Class form distributed at the last class session.
Successful Completion Students are allowed no more than 2 excused absences. Grading consists of 3 quizzes, a final exam, tests to be announced in class. This course utilizes a pass/fail grading scheme.
Grading:
- Two Quizzes/Tests (each is 25% of grade)
- Final Exam (50% of grade)
- A score of 70% or higher is needed to pass the class
- Tests to be announces in class
- Pass/Fail grading system
