Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Identify the keyboard of the shorthand machine.
- Demonstrate level appropriate skills in the use of the shorthand machine.
- Learn and apply all theory principles of real time writing from Chapters 1 - 24 in StenEd Theory textbooks.
- Become proficient at reading back and translating steno notes with a 95% accuracy rate.
Topics Topics will include, but are not limited to:
- Effective study habits.
- Vocabulary.
- Courtroom and deposition room etiquette.
- Rules of conflict-free writing.
- Importance of arbitraries and phrases.
- Weekly submittal of practice log sheets for accountability of practice hours.
- Classroom participation including required read back of steno notes.
- Completion of all homework assignments.
