This is the class for beginners to start with. Learn basic computer skills including using Windows, typing with a word processor, navigating the web, and working with email. Text and USB drive required.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Describe the basic layout of the Windows 10 Desktop screen.
Use common features in drop-down menus, toolbars, ribbons, scroll bars, and tiles.
Create and edit a document using Word.
Save and print files and create folders.
Navigate to Web pages by typing or doing a search in the browser’s address bar.
Navigate in a Website using hyperlinks.
Perform a basic Web search and improve search results.
Using Settings and Help.

Evaluation
Students will confidentially evaluate this course by completing the Student Evaluation of Class form distributed at the last class session.

Successful Completion
The instructor will evaluate the student’s skills learned using attendance, participation, feedback, testing where appropriate, and projects completed. 75% attendance is required; 100% attendance is recommended as no special arrangements will be made for missing class. 75% attendance = 12 hours. This class is part of the Basic Computer Skills Certificate program. When this class, Keyboarding Basics, and MS Office are completed, the student may request a certificate. This class will appear on the student’s Macomb Community College non-credit transcript.
