BSNS-8016B Fundamentals of Project Management Prerequisites None Successfully completing projects within the constraints of time, scope, quality, cost, and meeting stakeholder expectations is vital to any organization. This course will familiarize you with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) framework and approach to project management. You will receive an introduction to project management (PM) terms and practices, the five process groups, and the ten knowledge areas. Text Required.

Learning Outcomes By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Create a complete project plan including the subsidiary plan for each knowledge area in the PMBOK.
- Explain what is required to effectively use the PMI Process Groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing) and Knowledge Areas in terms of process inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs.
- Improve test taking capabilities by learning how to dissect questions and restate what is being asked, using techniques to work through selecting the best answer.
- Apply project management terms and techniques to a project created by the student.
- Understand the differences between Predictive/Waterfall and Agile/Adaptive projects.
- Understand how an Agile team uses the Scrum technique to manage a project.
- Demonstrate knowledge by elaborating process and outputs to the PMBOK framework using the Ricardo Vargas Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Sixth Edition processes flow.

The instructor will evaluate the student’s participation, attendance, and successful completion of assignments. 100% attendance in weekly calls is recommended. Upon successful completion, this course will appear on the student’s Macomb Community College non-credit transcript.
