The objective of this course is to enhance your learning experiences in a designated study abroad location. This course provides an opportunity to learn about a host country’s cultural patterns, language, demographics, business practices, and the dynamics of globalization.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to research basic information on the host country’s culture and business practices.
Objectives:
- Describe the laws, economic system, and political structure of the host country.
- Develop an understanding of the concept of intercultural competency.
- Interact with people in the host country.
- Assess a host country’s business practices, industries, and policies for international trade.
- Describe the host country’s culture, demographics, and geography.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to describe the host country’s national identity.
Objectives:
- Describe an understanding of beliefs, practices, cuisine, and perceptions of the host country.
- Determine the cultural differences between the student’s home country versus the host country.
- Describe the host country’s political, business, and economic systems.
- Identify the ethnic, cultural, demographic, and societal characteristics of the local region.
- Describe the financial, logistics, and geographic attributes of the local region.
Outcome 3: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to communicate the connection between the host country’s societal characteristics and its business environment.
Objectives:
- Develop a journal that documents daily experiences that focus on the local culture, societal characteristics, geography, and the business and economic environment.
- Create a presentation that outlines the travel abroad experiences that include an overview of the region, political and business environment, culture, and geography.
- Present travel abroad experiences to the travel coordinator.
