ATPP 2000 - Advanced Pipefitting Credit Hours: 3.00 Prerequisites: ATPP 1250 and ATWD 1130
Building off of the pipefitting fundamentals class, students will put learned theory into practice. This class will apply their knowledge in hands-on activities that are designed to mimic the pipe fitting trade. Students will learn how to perform tasks such as calculating cut lengths, calculating offsets, piping layout, weld prep, tapping pipe, and proper rigging techniques.

- Understand OSHA’s role in relation to the employer and employee responsibility on the jobsite.
Outcome 2: Students will be able to correctly use basic tools common to pipe fitting industry.

- Select the proper tools for a given application.
- Have basic knowledge of how to properly use the tool for a task.
- Understand cleanup and maintenance procedures for tools used.
- Demonstrate proper storage and handling of tools used.
Outcome 3: Students will demonstrate proper joint preparation procedures for welded pipe.
Objectives:
- Recognize the proper joint preparation procedures for welded pipe.
- Identify proper setup procedure for piping material.
- Use proper support techniques for piping preparation.
- Identify safe lifting practices for pipe weldment.
Outcome 4: Students will be able correctly use trade math common to the pipe fitting industry.
Objectives:
- Use common measuring tools.
- Calculate simple mathematical conversions.
- Locate measurements on a blueprint.
- Generate basic isometric blueprints.
- Identify appropriate trade formulas for a given task.
