BLAW 2100 - International Business Law Credit Hours: 3.00 Prerequisites: BLAW 1080
This fundamentals course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of international law for conducting business with foreign nationals within the United States or abroad. Topics will cover the legal environment of international business; international sales, credits, and commercial transactions; international and U.S. trade law; and regulations of the international marketplace.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain the legal environment of international business.
Objectives:
- Identify what is international law.
- Define international law.
- Identify sources of international law, including custom, treaties, and international conventions.
- Identify different legal systems (such as common law, civil law, and Islamic law system).
- Compare different legal systems.
- Identity various ways to resolve disputes arising from international business transactions.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply commercial transactions to international sales.
Objectives:
- Identify Convention on Contracts for the International Sales of Goods (CISG).
- Define CISG.
- Identify various documents of title or other negotiable transport documents in facilitating exchange of goods and money across international borders.
- Identify trade terms in sales contracts.
- Identify legal issues in international transportation (such as aviation and maritime law).
- Identify negotiable instruments used in international trade (such as letter of credit).
- Apply CISG to a case scenario.
- Explain international sales and commercial transactions.
Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain trade law practices.
Objectives:
- Identify branches of U.S. government and role each plays in regulating foreign commerce and trade.
- Identify the role of the World Trade Organization.
- Identify regulations for importing and exporting.
- Identify the United States - Mexico - Canada Agreement (USMCA).
- Identify the European Union.
- Summarize international law.
- Summarize U.S. trade law.
Outcome 4: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain the regulation of the international marketplace.

- Define U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
- Identify labor laws.
- Identify environmental laws.
- Compare international marketplace regulations.
