DNHY 1115 - Preclinical Dental Hygiene and Theory Credit Hours: 4.00 Prerequisites: Admission into the Dental Hygiene Program; ENGL 1180 or ENGL 1210 , BIOL 2710 , BIOL 2400 or BIOL 2730 , PSYC 1010 , CHEM 1050 , and SOCY 1010 all with a grade of C or better
Corequisites: DNHY 1110 , DNHY 1112 , and DNHY 1114
This course initiates the foundational theoretical knowledge of clinical dental hygiene concepts and includes clinical experiences of dental hygiene procedures for performing dental hygiene care. Theoretical and clinical concepts introduced include clinical policy/procedure, maintaining a safe and aseptic work environment, equipment maintenance, patient assessment instruments and techniques, scaling instruments and techniques, stain removal equipment and techniques, documentation, and evidence-based dental hygiene concepts.
