- Consideration of the dominant triad and dominant seventh chord.
- Dotted rhythms and sixteenth notes.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to name, define, and transcribe dictated harmonic progressions expressing soprano pitches, bass pitches, and figured bass symbols. Objectives: Name, define, and transcribe dictated harmonic progressions using the: - Primary triads
- Supertonic and leading tone triads.
- Dominant seventh and supertonic seventh chords.
- Submediant and mediant triads.
Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to name, define, and identify rhythm and meter. Objectives: Name, define, and identify: - Simple time; the beat and its division into two parts.
- Compound time; the beat and its division into three parts.
- Subdivision of the beat; the simple beat into four parts.
- Subdivision of the beat; the compound beat into six parts.
Outcome 4: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to sight‐sing melodic exercises using solfeggio syllables. Objectives: Sight‐sing melodic exercises using: - Intervals from diatonic scales.
- Intervals from the dominant seventh chord.
- Chromatic notes of the secondary dominant.
- Chromatic notes in elementary modulations.
