Organization and function of the fire prevention organization; inspections, surveying and mapping procedures; recognition of fire hazards; engineering a solution to the hazard; enforcement of the solution; public relations as affected by fire prevention.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify and define the legal aspects of administering and enforcement of the fire prevention code. Objectives: The student will: - Identify the forms of local government and laws.
- Identify state and federal laws.
- Define administration, law and enforcement.
- Define search and seizure, due process and equal protection.
- Define intentional and negligent wrongdoing and liability attached.
- Define civil rights action.
- Identify the role of the witness.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify the various aspects of conducting fire inspections. Objectives: The student will: - Identify steps necessary for preparation of an inspection.
- Demonstrate how to conduct an inspection.
- Define the use of photography and inspection drawings.
- Demonstrate a closing interview.
- Given a list of violations of an occupancy, submit a written report
- Containing pertinent information; e.g., name, address, date, occupancy.
- Citing the code chapter and section applicable to the violation.
- Listing the corrective measures to be taken.
- Describing follow‐up inspections.
- Define appeals procedures, enforcement procedures and judicial review.

Outcome 5: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to determine which requirements are applicable based on the hazardous material(s) and system(s) involved. Objectives: The student will: - Define a hazardous material.
- Define hazards associated with hazardous materials.
- Identify the fire requirements for hazardous material storage.
