An overview of the functional operations of various specialized areas of security such as theft and risk control, security surveys, and loss prevention management in proprietary and governmental institutions.

Contact Hours: 3 Billable Contact Hours: 3 OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of the course, the student will know the primary elements and phases of the risk management and emergency management processes.
Objectives: The student will:
- List and describe the five elements of risk management.
- Apply the risk management process in the preparation of a security survey.
- List and describe the phases of the emergency management process.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course the student will be able to conduct security research from online and print sources.
Objectives: The student will:
- Complete a practical exercise by identifying the keyword and website search strategy.
- Conduct research on a loss prevention issue or topic and produce a deliverable product.
