MACA 2210 - Studio Photography

Credit Hours: 4.00

Prerequisites: MACA 1010 and MACA 1065

MACA 2210 offers a comprehensive overview of studio photography. Equipment, techniques, and setups of a photographic studio are covered. Students must have a digital SLR camera with manual exposure controls.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify the basic operation features of a photographic studio.

Objectives:

Demonstrate and measure the power output of a light source.
Explain and demonstrate requirements for color balance lighting.
Execute a Guide Number test for electronic strobes.
Properly compute exposures setting using guide numbers.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will develop skills needed to use studio lighting equipment.

Objectives:

Demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of the types of available studio lighting instruments.
Explain and demonstrate the safety concerns using hot Lights.
Produce images demonstrating the correct use of lighting for portrait settings.
Produce images demonstrating the correct use of lighting for tabletop setups.

Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to use light modifiers.

Objectives:

Demonstrate the controlled use of bounce flash.
Demonstrate the use of soft boxes.
Demonstrate the use of reflective umbrellas.
Demonstrate the use of mix lighting situations.
