AUTO 1220 - Automotive Engine Service Credit Hours: 3.00 Prerequisites: AUTO 1000 and AUTO 1210
This course will include engine disassembly along with cylinder head service, block service, crankshaft service, piston service and engine assembly.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to perform the proper procedure for servicing the cylinder heads.
Objectives:
- Disassemble an overhead camshaft cylinder head.
- Measure valve guide diameter.
- Checking valve spring tension.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain the proper procedure for servicing the engine block.
Objectives:
- Disassemble the block for cleaning and inspection.
- Measure the cylinder bore for taper and out of round.
- Check deck flatness.
Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to perform the proper procedure for assembling the engine .
Objectives:
- Assemble the pistons and rings.
- Install the timing mechanism.
- Tighten torque to yield bolts.
