POLS 2916 - Leadership, Organizing, & Conflict Resolution


Students in this course will learn theories, ideas, and practical strategies for organizing and leadership development. Students will learn how to identify and coordinate leaders in teams, build community and commitment around that leadership, build power from the resources of that community, and how to use that power strategically to make concrete change. This course will also introduce students to the root causes of conflict, as well as provide skills and practice in several methods of conflict resolution, particularly those that facilitate connection and understanding among diverse groups of people. Students will learn to identify and understand the complexity of social and political power dynamics, how they appear in organizational settings, and tools and strategies for addressing related conflicts.
