PLTC 1020 - Thermoplastic Materials and Processes


A course designed to introduce thermoplastic materials as either crystalline or amorphous materials. Crystalline thermoplastics are introduced and their properties examined. Amorphous materials are studied as a class. The two classes are contrasted and compared. Glass Transitions of materials are studied as are engineering special blends of thermoplastics for specific needs. The course provides sixteen hours of laboratory experiences in thermoplastic materials including injection molding. Some hands-on experience in the production of injection molded plastic parts. (4 contact hrs) South Campus.
