PLS 221 - Production Processing II


A sequel to course PLS 210 with continues thermoforming and introduces compression molding. The course is planned around the thermoforming and compression molding presses and focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of both systems. The course will include the production of parts and statistical quality control analysis of the output. The student should be prepared to work in temperatures above normal when the equipment is operating. (Materials are routinely heated to 225-325 degrees F.) The student should be prepared to spend upwards of 50 hours in the laboratory. (4 contact hrs) South Campus.
