PLS 202 - Thermoset Materials and Processes


A course which introduces thermoset materials. The physical properties are studied as a function of the glass transition. The course will address the various thermosets, their uses and the manner in which they are fabricated into useful parts. Compression and transfer molding is introduced in addition to casting and encapsulation. The student is given an opportunity to run the compression molding machine and cast a part using silicone molding materials and apoxy casting material. The laboratory component for this course is covered in approximately 15 hours. (4 contact hrs) South Campus.
