PLS 141 - Instrumental Method of Polmyer Identification A course designed to study the basic structure-property relationship in plastics with an emphasis on the practical applications of the fundamentals of crystallization, glass transition, deformation, and degradation of plastics and how these conditions relate to environmental exposures. The relationships between structure, morphology and mechanical properties are studies using the techniques of Infra-Red spectrophotometry and thermal analysis. The differential scanning calorimeter is featured. The laboratory segment requires fifty hours. (4 contact hrs) South Campus.
