PLS 101 - Materials and Processes


A course designed to explain the basic structure-property relationship in materials. The course will address the chemical and physical principles underlying the nature and behavior of materials. The course addresses metallic materials, their properties and the processes used to form them. Polymers and ceramics will be studied as will other engineering materials, such as concrete, glass, paper, minerals, etc. Ferrous metals will also be covered including the Iron-Carbon Diagram; polymers, the glass transition temperatures and crystallinity. (3 contact hrs) South Campus.
