MMT 292A - Advanced Metal Removal Theory


Advanced Metal Removal Theory will be presented. In addition, advanced set ups and operations will be practiced in the laboratory. Non traditional machining-methods will be demonstrated. This course will allow the co-op student to be exposed to the theory of metal cutting - especially as concerns - carbide, ceramic and diamond cutting tools. Set ups using rotary table, dividing heads, tracer mills, radius turning tools - radius & angle dressers will be demonstrated and practiced. The principles of E.D.M. will be covered and each student will have the opportunity to operate the EDM machine. E.C.M. - laser and plasma arc methods will be covered by lecture.
