MRC 107 - Orientation to Mental Retardation Designed to give the student the basic causative factors as well as behavioral characteristics of individuals who are considered mentally retarded. Common information regarding traditional and current trends in identification and treatment of mentally retarded are discusses. Special attention is given to the movement from restrictive settings, labeling and overprotection toward a public mentality that accepts the retarded person’s right to full citizenship.
