SURV 2600 - Advanced Construction Layout Surveying 2 Credits: 3.00 (5 contact hrs) This course continues to expand the principles of construction layout surveying related to buildings, sitework, utilities and roadways. Students will learn to use state-of-the-art electronic surveying equipment. South Campus.
Pre & Co Requisite(s): Prerequisite: ATBC-1510 Prerequisite: SURV-1200 OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course students will demonstrate knowledge of Construction Surveys.

- Perform horizontal cure layout.
- Perform vertical curve layout.
- Perform pipeline layout with grades.
- Perform building layout.
- Perform highway layout.
Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course students will demonstrate knowledge of As-Built Surveys.

- Overview of course and review of units of measure and review of geometric and trigonometric terms.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans.
- Use of grade stakes for construction and application of laser beams in construction.
- Computation of horizontal curves for highway layout.
- Computation of spiral curves and their application.
- Computation of vertical curves and their application.
- Developing procedures for recognizing and controlling errors in field layouts.
- MID‐SEMESTER EVALUATION
- Reading blueprints for building and bridge layout.
- Developing coordinate systems.
- Inversing coordinates and radiating control.
- Use of E.D.M. equipment and total stations.
- Developing checks for field computations and layout.
- Slope staking for ditch or highway.
- Instrument care and adjustment.
- FINAL EVALUATION.
