ELEC 2005 - Discrete Amplifiers & Introduction to Op-Amps Credits: 3.00 (4 contact hrs) (formerly EETE-1191) ELEC-2005 provides students theory and practical experimentation dealing with discrete transistor amplifiers and basic operational amplifier circuits. Among the circuits to be discussed are Voltage, Power, CC and CB amplifiers as well as inverting, non-inverting, differential, and summing op-amp amplifiers. South Campus.

Prerequisite: ELEC-1192 OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES Outcome 1: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to analyze, build and take measurements in transistor amplifier circuits.
Objectives: Students will be able to:
- Construct and evaluate a single stage BJT amplifier
- Construct and evaluate a multi-stage amplifier circuit
- Construct and evaluate Common Base and Common Collector Amplifiers
- Analyze and evaluate Power Amplifiers
- Analyze and evaluate Differential Amplifiers
Outcome 2: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to analyze, build and take measurements in electronic circuits which contain Operational Amplifiers.
Objectives: Students will be able to:
- Construct and evaluate inverting and non-inverting amplifiers
- Demonstrate through lab the use of linear integrated circuits
- Evaluate the necessity of negative feedback in op-amp circuits
Outcome 3: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to analyze, build and take measurements in Linear Op-Amp Circuits
Objectives: Students will be able to:
- Construct, analyze, and evaluate the operation of electronic circuits which perform the following op-amp functions:
- Inverting and non-inverting amplifiers
- Differential amplifiers
- Instrumentation amplifiers
- Summing amplifiers
- Students will analyze current boosters and voltage controlled current sources.
