Students must take a minimum of 24 credits in General Education courses from the 4 core areas as outlined in AS degree. Assuming no courses are taken during the Summer term, full time students should average at least 16 credit hours per term to graduate within 4 terms. Taking courses during the summer term allows students a better chance of fulfilling degree requirements on time. Students should take elective courses to meet the minimum requirement of 62 credit hours required for the Associate of Science degree and that are appropriate to their transfer objective. Some of these courses could be prerequisites for core courses. Students should consult with a counselor, academic advisor or program advisor (586.286.2288 Center Campus or 586.445.7211 South Campus).

*A critical course is a course that is highly correlated with success in a particular program and field. Critical courses are identified by the academic department as courses that the student should have a high level of understanding and comprehension in order to progress successfully in the program.

**A recommended course is a suggestion or an advised option that correlates to the respective program. Recommended courses complement the skill set(s) required to be successful and are considered to be beneficial for enhancing students’ education in the program. Recommended courses are not mandatory. In some cases there may not be recommended courses.

***An exploratory course is one that provides a student a broad overview of a particular field/area of study and associated occupations. Exploratory courses help students better understand if that particular program is a good fit for the student to pursue given their interests and career goals.
