Program Description:

The Entrepreneurship‑Innovation program is designed for students who desire to develop their own businesses or pursue a career in a corporation that requires continuous innovation. It provides a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, management, globalization, marketing, and computer information systems as these areas relate to entrepreneurial business. This includes an understanding of how to develop a new business plan, conduct marketing research to determine the feasibility of a new business, obtain capital resources for a new business enterprise, pursue global opportunities, manage the cash flow of a new business, and understand the legal issues related to entrepreneurial endeavors.

Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

1. Explain the methods and sources for creating and starting a new entrepreneurial adventure.

2. Identify the sources of funding that are available for a new start-up venture.

3. Develop a comprehensive business and marketing plan for a small business venture.

4. Develop a successful promotional campaign that focuses on creating consumer awareness, demand, and increased market share.

5. Identify and evaluate target market strategies for product and service offerings.

6. Analyze financial accounting information that appears on an income statement and balance sheet.

7. Analyze accounting information that is utilized to make and monitor business decisions.

8. Explain the increasing global opportunities available to small firms.

9. Describe the major barriers to and challenges of international operations and how to respond to them.

Transfer Pathways:

Students intending to transfer and complete a bachelor’s degree need to make early decisions concerning an academic major and a transfer destination. Statistics show that students who make these decisions early are more likely to persist to graduation than their undecided counterparts.
