DRAD 2230 - Construction Specifications

A survey of the content of various construction contracts and documents required as part of the designing and construction of various building projects. General conditions, specifications, organization, addendums, bulletins, and terminology will be discussed.

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
  1. Be able to organize the construction drawing for a project in such a way as to prepare them for bidding purposes along with the construction specifications.
  2. Recognize specifications contained on the working drawings.
  3. Be able to prepare the following forms and documents:
    1. Advertisement for bids.
    2. Bid proposal forms.
    3. Notice for bidders.
    4. General conditions.
    5. Supplementary general conditions.
    6. Substitution forms.
    7. Guarantee forms.
    8. Specifications cover index.
    9. The divisions of the specifications dealing with each trade.
    10. Change orders.
    11. Addendums and bulletins.
  4. Be able to state the bidding procedure used on various projects.
  5. Be able to evaluate the bids received and how to award a contract.
  6. Through the writing of specifications, be able to better evaluate the different materials used in construction projects.
  7. Work in groups to prepare an outline specification and complete construction specification with the aid of reference books, sweet catalogs, and other materials as needed.
