MECT 2740 - Programmable Logic Controls 2 Allen Bradley PLC

(formerly ATEE-2740) MECT-2740 introduces advanced programming concepts and hardware analysis of the industrial programmable logic controller. Systems to be studied include the Allen-Bradley PLC5. South Campus.

Prerequisites:
 

Prerequisite: MECT-2640 or consent of apprenticeship coordinator or related work experience


OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to the student will identify the various components of the programmable logic controllers.

Objectives: The student will

  1. Identify components of the Allen-Bradley PLC-5 systems.
  2. Utilize peripheral devices with the Allen-Bradley PLC-5.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, the student, using the PLC-5, will program simple instruction commands and execute said commands.

Objectives: The student will:

  1. Program and execute advanced programs on the Allen-Bradley PLC-5.
  2. Use diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot the Allen-Bradley PLC-5.
  3. Describe the various troubleshooting techniques involving the input/output modules.
