CIVL 1010 - Civil Technology Seminar

Designed to acquaint the student with the programs of study, nature of work performed by technicians, and opportunities available to them. South Campus.

Prerequisites:
None

OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify associated technical programs.

Objectives:

  1. Identify the core and specialty courses.
  2. Identify the electives.
  3. Indicate co-op options, offered by this institution.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to differentiate the institutions place in education.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the associate degree.
  2. Discuss accreditation.
  3. Assess the transferability of associated technical programs.

Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to use the various institutional facilities and options related to the institution.

Objectives:

  1. Compare counseling and program advising.
  2. Examine program learning, job placement, and financial aid.
  3. Locate the Learning Media Center.

Outcome 4: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to relate to the land use, transportation system in America, and cooperative education as it pertains to Civil Technology.

Objectives:

  1. Examine the history of land use in the United States.
  2. Contrast the development of the transportation system.
  3. Discuss co-operative education.

Outcome 5: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to research and speak to a specific related occupation or workplace as it pertains to preparation, qualifications, nature of work, opportunities, practices, and ethics.

Objectives:

  1. Interview a professional in the related occupation or workplace.
  2. Submit in writing, results of the research and interview.
