MSTC 1170 - Nondestructive Testing Methods


(formerly MST 117) Principles, theories and application overview of the five basic methods. Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), with emphasis on Magnetic Particle (MTK) Dye Penetrant (DT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET). Advantages, disadvantages, applications and overlap of all methods. Personnel Certification and discontinuity valuation/interpretation with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications will be emphasized. Course content is designed to meet ASNT-SNT-TC-IA Level II requirements as well as supply students with knowledge required for ASQC Certification. (4 contact hrs) South Campus.
