ITOS 1400 - Managing a Microsoft Windows Server Environment

(3 contact hrs)
(formerly ITCS-1440) This course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to manage accounts and resources, maintain server resources, monitor server performance, and safeguard data in a Microsoft Windows Server environment. Topics include managing user, computer, and group accounts; managing access to network resources; managing printers; managing an organizational unit in a networkbased on Active Directory directory service; and implementing Group Policy to manage users and computers.

Pre & Co Requisite(s):  

Prerequisite: ITNT-1500 or ITNC-1000 or ITNC-1030


OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, students will define, modify, and manage user accounts.

Objectives:

  1. Create and populate organizational units with user and computer accounts.
  2. Manage user and computer accounts.
  3. Create and manage groups.
  4. Manage access to resources.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, students will define, modify, and manage network printing.

Objectives:

  1. Implement printing.
  2. Manage printing.

Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, students will implement group policy objects.

Objectives:

  1. Manage access to objects in using organizational units.
  2. Implement Group Policy.
  3. Manage the user and computer environment by using Group Policy.
  4. Audit accounts and resources.
