ITCS 1400 - Micros in Business

ITCS-1400 is an in-depth extension of work completed in ITCS-1010. Students develop the further understanding needed for entry-level positions in automated offices or for participation on teams involved in the use of advanced office systems.

Pre & Co Requisite(s):  

Prerequisite: ITCS-1010


OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
Outcome 1: Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Certification Skill Sets for Microsoft Word.

Objectives: Students will:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the skill standards focused on Productivity Tools including templates, themes, and mail merge.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Desktop Publishing.
  3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of forms, document security, and macros.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Word and the Internet including Web pages, XML, and Blogs.

Outcome 2: Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Certification Skill Sets for Microsoft Excel.

Objectives: Students will:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of converting data to information using data tables, conditional formatting, PivotTables, and PivotCharts.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of data tables and amortization tables.
  3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of data consolidation, links, formula auditing.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of What-If Analysis (goal seek, solver, scenario manager).
  5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of collaboration and workbook distribution.
  6. Demonstrate a working knowledge of templates, styles, the Web, and macros.

Outcome 3: Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Certification Skill Sets for Microsoft Access.

Objectives: Students will:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Data Mining (PivotTables, and PivotCharts).
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Data Protection (Integrity, validation, and reliability).
  3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Advanced Queries.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of managing a database (bulletproofing the Database, as well as table and switchboard design.

Outcome 4: Upon completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Specialist, Specialist Certification Skill Sets for Microsoft PowerPoint.

Objectives: Students will:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of how to create charts and graphs working with text and statistical charts/graphs.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of presentation customization, collaboration, management, and delivery.
